Our Story

In 2016, God gave Chris and Jen Beck the vision of a ministry working with horses, other farm animals, and nature, to share the love of Jesus Christ with people. With steps of radical obedience, the Becks left their jobs as police officer and Registered Nurse to pursue the mission that God had put on their hearts. Jen grew up working with horses, but, other than horse knowledge and obedient hearts, there was only a beautiful vision of a powerful ministry.

By 2017, the Becks had shared the vision with their home church and close friends and they began to meet regularly to pray and seek God's direction.

2017 & 2018 brought a great deal of learning. We continued to meet and lay the foundation of Risen Ridge Ministry. Chris and Jen traveled to Crystal Peaks Youth Ranch in Bend, OR, for a similar ministries clinic and became friends with two local horse ministries to explore what Risen Ridge might look like. Our board of directors was formed and we worked to become a recognized nonprofit organization. 

In February of 2019, we had just filed our 501(c)3 paperwork when God opened the door to the most perfect facility for us to launch. For the next five years, the Miller family would warmly welcome Risen Ridge Ministry to their beautiful farm. During our time at the Miller's, we began serving the community and did so for four years. We learned lessons that will be with us both in the journey of the ministry and on the path of life.

By early 2023, we knew that our time at this property was coming to an end and we made an agreement that we would not be starting our ministry sessions there in 2024. But God had not revealed where we were heading...

2024 started with Risen Ridge Ministry moving to a new location. The new facility has room to grow into all that God has for Risen Ridge. We spent the year on construction projects, building and implementing the Heavenly Horsemanship program, and learning how to host special events in the new space.

God has surrounded us with amazing people and has given us a God-sized vision for this ministry. There are plans for continued property improvements, growth and deepened relationships in our volunteer family, expanded community events, and ministry programs to reach even more people for God's kingdom!
